Santa Anita Municipal Court Official Named

Carol Williams Elswick of La Verne has been appointed a commissioner of the Santa Anita Municipal Court, which covers Arcadia, Bradbury, Duarte and Monrovia.
Elswick was appointed by Judge Samuel Clark Moore to replace Kirk Nyby, who resigned to sail the South Pacific with his family.
Elswick, 34, previously was deputy city attorney for Los Angeles and was affiliated with the law firm of Ochoa & Sillas. She graduated from USC and Loyola Law School.
* Carol A. Wise, associate minister at the La Verne Church of the Brethren, has been named president of the Pomona Valley Council of Churches.
* The Rev. Jonathan T. Glass, rector of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Upland, is vice president. The council, which includes 73 member churches, administers shelter and hunger programs in the Pomona Valley.
* Pasadena storyteller Milbre Burch has received a $5,000 fellowship from the Arts Division of the city of Pasadena for her work as a writer and performer of stories and as an arts activist in the community.
