Neighborhood Watch Works

Share

In response to “Police Take to the Streets to Cut Crime and Blight,” I am the Neighborhood Watch chairperson for car 17A91 of the LAPD’s Devonshire Division, and I say “hooray for the LAPD and The Times.”

The senior lead officers of the Valley are on the streets working with our local citizens on their problems, but the majority of people in the Valley don’t even know they exist.

They are also very active in the 12th District Neighborhood Watch program, started and supported by Councilman Hal Bernson and his office. It was with this program that we in the Devonshire Division saw our crime statistics become better than those of any other area in the city in 1990.

All citizens should become involved in a local Neighborhood Watch program. The LAPD cannot do it alone.
