Bravo, the cable television channel specializing in cultural programming, is expanding its presence in Orange County.

Starting July 1, Bravo will be available on Dimension Cable Services, which serves 122,594 customers in South County. The service is also carried by Copley/Colony in Newport Beach, Costa Mesa and Cypress and by Community Cable in Irvine.

In addition to reporting on the arts, the commercial-free service features independent films, including those of Henry Jaglom; orchestra and opera presentations, including a complete broadcast of “Don Giovanni” as part of a yearlong Mozart bicentennial; and such international performers as Nigerian bandleader King Sunny Ade & His African Beats. The programming service has 5 million subscribers nationwide on 400 cable systems, many of which include it as part of basic-service packages.
