Row Over Visas for Non-American Models: Modeling agency executives are upset over stricter regulations for temporary work visas--due to go into effect in October--that will make it tougher for models from overseas to get jobs in America. The rule, aimed at protecting American workers, will eliminate jobs related to the visitors’ “shoots,” agencies said. Steven Mukamal, an attorney representing many agencies, said the law could eliminate 5,000 American jobs in the $500-million-a-year industry.
