Bell Gardens : 13 Police Officers Honored for Recovering Stolen Cars

The California Highway Patrol and the Automobile Club of Southern California have honored 13 Bell Gardens police officers, each of whom recovered more than 12 stolen vehicles last year.

Officers Robert Barrera, Timothy Byers, Michael Crose, William DeLuna, Mike Dicesare, Troy Henshaw, Joe Marquez, Frank Mitko, Danny Mosquiera, Stephanie Point, Richard Rice, Dennis Timmons and Sgt. Jerry Winfrey were awarded certificates during the recent ceremony.

In order to qualify for the award, officers must find at least 12 stolen cars, three of which had to be recovered with the thief behind the wheel. Officers Marquez and Crose found the most stolen cars in 1990. They each recovered 25.

Automobile thefts in Bell Gardens decreased 9% in 1990 compared to 1989, according to the Police Department.
