Valley Should Welcome Local Jobs

Share

It is amusing that the residents of Woodland Hills and the Woodland Hills Homeowners Organization are going to fight developers who might attempt to construct commercial real estate which would bring much-needed jobs to the Valley.

For years, Valley residents have complained that they have to drive long distances in heavy traffic to get to work because the Valley is the “bedroom community” of Los Angeles. The San Fernando Valley has over a million residents, which would put it among the largest cities in the United States if it separated from the city of Los Angeles. Most of the jobs are downtown or on the Westside.

However, regional planning over the years has developed a disgrace. Business centers should have been built close to residential neighborhoods so that most people would not have to spend half of their day commuting and causing a terrible traffic mess that has reached a critical stage in terms of wasted time, human stress and air pollution.
