Three cheers, and more, to the excellent made-for-TV movie “Our Sons” (ABC, May 19). I was especially impressed by Ann-Margret’s moving performance as the homophobic mother of an AIDS patient. She managed to bring across the irrational fears and hatred, the basic components of homophobia. Ignorance, too, is a part of this phenomenon, and a fine script brought that point home, too.
Thanks, as well, to Julie Andrews (also excellent) for her persistence in bringing this film to television.
