A PLANT? It’s not against the law for someone other than a reporter to ask questions at a news conference, but it is a little unusual. . . . When reporters at a press conference held in Sacramento Monday by Rep. William E. Dannemeyer (A3) failed to ask the U.S. Senate candidate about his charitable contributions, someone in the audience did. The congressman’s staff later conceded that the questioner was a member of a video crew hired to tape a campaign promo . . . but insisted he acted on his own.
