Thai Airways Orders MD-11 Jets: As the first of four new McDonnell Douglas MD-11 jetliners was delivered to Thai Airways International, the Bangkok-based carrier signed an agreement for the purchase of three more. Thailand’s national carrier was one of 12 customers whose orders launched development of the MD-11 in December, 1986. The three-engine MD-11 is able to carry up to 405 passengers 8,000 miles before refueling.
