Sierra Madre Earthquake
I noted with great interest the graphic “Earthquakes: The Numbers” (Part A, June 30). That really put in perspective earthquake history in California for the past 100-plus years. One would assume that those listed were all of the quakes above 5.0 on the Richter scale. I also noted something of perhaps greater interest than listing the quakes in order of magnitude--that is, the frequency of large quakes has increased significantly during the last two decades.
The 1990s may be an interesting 10 years to watch.
