COUNTYWIDE : $50,000 in Grants Given to 14 Agencies

The Orange County Community Foundation will present grants totaling about $50,000 to 14 local nonprofit agencies this week.
The awards range from $500 to $7,500 each and will be given to groups ranging from the Boys and Girls Club of Garden Grove--which will receive $3,000--to the Mexican-American Women’s Assn., which will get $4,945.
The largest awards will go to Orange Coast Interfaith Shelter, which will receive $7,500; the Pilgrimage Family Counseling Services, $7,000, and the Mental Health Assn., $6,755.
Grants of $5,000 each will go to AIDS Services of Orange County, the Orange County High School of the Arts and the Volunteer Center of Greater Orange County.
Awards of $1,000 each will go to Stop-Gap, a nonprofit theatrical production company, the National Conference of Christians and Jews, and the Boys and Girls Club of Cypress.
Other grants will go to the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, which will receive $1,500; the Orange Housing Development Corp., $600, and $500 to the Center for Southern California Studies at Cal State Fullerton.
The Costa Mesa-based foundation reviewed more than 100 requests from county agencies. A reception Friday at the Ebell Club of Santa Ana will honor the grant recipients.
