ANAHEIM : Test Results in Death May Take Months

Share

Citing a backlog of cases, a coroner’s official said Tuesday that it may be months before authorities know what caused the death of a man who burst into the home of an elderly couple Monday and collapsed in their kitchen.

Police initially said it appeared that James Eugene Miles, 32, of Anaheim may have died of a drug overdose after breaking into the home of Lyle and Pearl Murray. But Deputy Coroner William King said it may be 10 to 16 weeks before results from a toxicology test are in.

King said that toxicology work for homicides, jail deaths and cases where police were involved take precedence but that because this case does not appear to involve foul play, it will not be finished for several months.
