The agent for the Rams’ No. 1 draft choice, Todd Lyght, said Tuesday that Lyght will attend the rookie camp that opens Thursday.

“I spoke to (Ram Vice President) Jay Zygmunt, and we’ve started negotiating,” said Bob Woolf, Lyght’s Boston-based agent. “So, at least there’s a conversation. And we’ve scheduled something for Friday.”

Lyght is expected to be the front-runner for a starting cornerback job.

The rookie camp will continue through July 16, with training camp starting the next day. Unsigned players cannot attend training camp.

Only four NFL first-round picks have signed contracts, and among the top 11 selections, only the No. 1 overall choice, defensive tackle Russell Maryland, and the No. 6, defensive lineman Eric Swann, have signed. Maryland signed a five-year, $8-million deal that is considered below standard value for a top pick.

The Rams signed fifth-round choice Robert Young, a defensive tackle, leaving them with seven unsigned draftees.
