Raghib (Rocket) Ismail will miss the Toronto Argonauts’ season opener at Ottawa on Thursday night, the team reported. Ismail, the $18-million acquisition of Toronto owner Bruce McNall, will remain on the sidelines with a strained quadriceps muscle in his left leg.

“Rocket has shown steady improvement,” Dr. Steve Lombardo, a Los Angeles orthopedist who has been treating Ismail since last weekend, said in a statement released by the team. “However, he now needs to get into game shape.”
