5-Year-Old Dies, 2 Hurt in House Garage Fire
A 5-year-old child was killed Wednesday and two people were injured in a garage fire, authorities said.
The blaze, in the 600 block of East 115th Street in Los Angeles, began at 8:15 a.m., Fire Department spokesman Greg Acevedo said. The garage was apparently used as living quarters, he said. Firefighters extinguished the fire within 15 minutes, and the two injured people were taken to local hospitals, he said.
The child, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. Firefighters were investigating the cause.
