America-3 Opens Series With A Loss
The French Syndicate’s Le Defi Francais defeated America-3 Wednesday by one minute, 50 seconds in the first of the five-race Lafayette Cup series off Point Loma.
It was the first time the trustee of the Cup, currently the San Diego Yacht Club, has allowed match racing between possible Cup competitors before the America’s Cup. The regatta continues today on the same course.
HORSE RACING
Post time for Saturday racing at Caliente has been changed to 3:30 p.m. from 1:30 p.m. Friday racing will also begin at 3:30.
