Hipp Out to Make Woods 21st Victim

Heavyweight Joe Hipp, ranked No. 20 by the World Boxing Council, will face Cleveland Woods of West Covina tonight in the main event of a monthly boxing card at UC Irvine’s Bren Events Center.

The seven-fight card, the second promoted by LBNT Pro Sports, begins at 7 p.m. and concludes with the 10-round bout between Hipp (20-1) of Federal Way, Wash., and Woods (13-2).

Shane Kaplan (3-1), a junior middleweight from Irvine, will fight Jimmy Rivas (0-2) of Phoenix in one of the undercards. In a heavyweight fight, La Habra’s Lance Wingert (1-0) will face Jaime Mungia (3-2).
