Axel Lopez of Santa Ana was defeated, 7-5, 6-3, by Javier Gonzalez of Hesperia on the third day of round-robin wheelchair tennis competition. Lopez is now 1-2 in matches. Ryan Martin of Washington, D.C., who beat Lopez on the opening day, improved to 3-0. . . . Greg Boyer of Laguna Beach, Nick Baba of Laguna Niguel and Brian Costanza of Tustin each scored two goals and Dan Leyson of Fullerton scored once in the West’s 12-8 water polo victory over the East. Richard Russey of Fullerton scored twice for the East. . . . Sandy Vessey of Huntington Beach had nine saves as the North women’s water polo team beat the West, 8-6. Laura Baker of Fullerton scored twice and Suzanne Shriner of Newport Beach had four saves for the West. . . . Lanee Butler of San Juan Capistrano was third in the women’s Lechner Division II in yachting after the first day of competition at the Alamitos Bay Yacht Club in Long Beach. She finished third in the first race and second in the second. . . . In women’s Europe dinghy, Carolyn Ulander of Costa Mesa was seventh after two races and Julia Norman of Newport Beach was 12th.
