Summertime means story time at Kidspace Museum in Pasadena.

On Tuesday, storytellers Jennifer Brandt and Jon Reed will team up and spin legendary folk tales at the museum, at 390 S. El Molino Ave. The two performances begin at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Trina Duke, director of public programs, said this is the first summer the hands-on childrens museum is offering a storytelling series each Tuesday.

The program is free with the $3.25 per person admission fee for the exhibit area, which includes Stuffee’s House and the Ant Wall. Children under 2 are admitted free.

Lately, evenings at Maldonado’s in Pasadena have become “Too Darn Hot.”

That’s because the supper club’s owner and four other performers are singing a string of Cole Porter songs to celebrate the 100th birthday of the American composer and lyricist.

The revue, which began in mid-June, continues today at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Porter was born on June 9, 1891, on a farm in Peru, Ind.

Bill Maldonado, who opened the continental restaurant and bar in 1974, has his performers huddle around the grand piano in the center of the club and they sing Porter hits, such as “Friendship,” “Let’s Do It,” “My Heart Belongs to Daddy,” “You’re the Top,” “Night and Day” and “In the Still of the Night.”

The shows will continue at Maldonado’s, 1202 E. Green St., through July 28. Dinner seatings and the one-hour shows begin at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Sunday.

The $10 per person fee for the entertainment is added to a customer’s dinner bill, Maldonado said.
