Irvine Co. Project a Poor Alternative

Share

On Tuesday, the Anaheim City Council will review the Irvine Co.’s Mountain Park project.

This development is unique due to the alternative that residents were confronted with--jail and/or dump.

The citizens of Anaheim are already faced with overcrowding of residential streets with commuters avoiding area freeways; city services, which are operating at below safe levels (police, fire, maintenance and schools); restrictions on water usage due to insufficient levels to support existing demands, and air quality that is typically unsatisfactory.

The cumulative effects of the proposed Mountain Park project will not be isolated to the canyon area being developed. If accepted as currently proposed, this development will be financially and environmentally detrimental to the entire city.

Left to govern themselves, the Irvine Co. will ensure only one thing--profits will be maximized.

If area residents hope to have any safeguards established to protect their existing quality of life, they will need to voice their concerns July 23 at the City Council meeting.
