Legislature OKs Budget, Taxes

Share

In the beginning of our nation there was a rebellion over taxation without representation. Today we need a rebellion against our representation. Assembly Bill 2181 and Senate Bill 179 are a joke. The bills increase the cost of products for the consumer, and also have a hidden tax to retailers in the form of determining what is taxable. For example, glazed fruit sold for baking is not taxable, but glazed fruit sold as candy is. Therefore, the retailer needs to ask the consumer what the product will be used for. Also, the tax started in the middle of the month making it difficult to properly calculate what tax is owed to the various taxing districts. Next time let’s try tax simplification, not tax complication.
