Gang Member Slain in Drive-By Shooting
A 31-year-old man was killed in a gang-related drive-by shooting in Southeast San Diego, police said Monday.
The victim, Reginald Allen, 31, was shot once in the chest about 9:50 p.m. Sunday in the 4200 block of Market Street, Lt. Dan Berglund said.
Witnesses said someone in a car driving east on Market yelled “some sort of a gang phrase” at a crowd, Berglund said. Someone in the crowd yelled back another gang phrase, the car made a U-turn and returned to fire a shot into the crowd, Berglund said.
Allen was a known gang member, Berglund said. He was taken to Paradise Valley Hospital and later taken to Mercy Hospital, where he died at 12:02 p.m. Monday.
