Right-hander Mike Fetters will become the fourth pitcher to audition for the fifth spot in the starting rotation Saturday, when he faces the Yankees at New York.

The Angels have used a four-man rotation for the past month, but a tight schedule in August--with only two off-days--dictated the need for another starter. Scott Lewis (1-5), Joe Grahe (0-1) and Valenzuela (0-2) failed to win the job in their attempts.

Fetters began the season with triple-A Edmonton but was recalled June 15. He has no record and a 4.73 earned-run average in six relief appearances. He started for Edmonton and started twice for the Angels last season, compiling no record and an 8.68 ERA in those two starts.

The Angels’ chances of acquiring right-hander Chris Bosio from Milwaukee appear slim, since the Brewers are said to be insisting that they get prospect Kyle Abbott in return and the Angels won’t deal him. . . . Bryan Harvey has given up five earned runs and not seven in his last four appearances, as was reported Wednesday.
