AST Research Inc.: The Irvine-based personal computer company said fourth-quarter profit totaled $20.4 million, or 64 cents per share, up 34% from the same period a year ago. Revenue hit a record $211 million, up 39%. For fiscal year 1991, profit totaled $64.7 million, compared to $35.1 million in fiscal 1990. The company credited financial controls, manufacturing efficiency programs and expanded sales channels.
