SANTA ANA : 2 Youths Held as Robbery Suspects
Police arrested two juveniles early Thursday on suspicion of holding up two people at gunpoint and robbing them of $200 in cash and their watches.
The boys, whose names were withheld because of their age, were in custody in Orange County Juvenile Hall on armed robbery charges, said Santa Ana police spokeswoman Maureen Haacker.
Haacker said the two victims were standing at the intersection of Bristol Street and Edinger Avenue about 12:30 a.m. when three teen-agers approached, one of them on a bicycle.
One of the teen-agers pulled out a .25-caliber handgun, demanded money and the victims’ watches, then the three fled, Haacker said. The bicycle was abandoned a short distance from the intersection.
The victims then waved down a police car, and a search began. A canine unit was called in and officers arrested a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old.
