Countywide : Rally Planned Over MIAs in Vietnam
Vietnam Veterans of Ventura County has scheduled a rally Saturday at the County Government Center’s Veterans Memorial to show support for American servicemen who vanished during the Vietnam War.
The group will hold the rally from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in light of a flurry of recent photographs and other evidence purporting to show that Americans are alive and being held against their will in Southeast Asia, said organizer Robert Wilhelm of Oxnard.
Wilhelm said the group plans to collect signatures on a petition urging the federal government to declassify secret military documents and give a full accounting of all 2,270 Americans once listed as prisoners of war or missing in action. The government says these Americans are presumed dead.
