Fessing Up: KROQ-FM general manager Trip Reeb and program director Andy Schoen are due to testify today in an inquiry into a murder confession hoax concocted by three on-air station personalities. KROQ’s morning team of Kevin Ryder and Gene (Bean) Baxter, who concocted the hoax in June, 1990, along with deejay Doug Roberts, were called to answer questions Thursday before an administrative law judge for the Federal Communications Commission. The hearings this week are focusing on whether station management knew of the hoax before a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s official brought it to their attention in April.
