TUSTIN : Trustees Restore School Programs

Share

The Tustin Unified School District board this week reinstated some programs it had considered cutting from the budget for the coming school year.

Among the programs the board put back in the $44.7-million budget were middle-school athletic programs, home-to-school transportation for high school students, purchases of new books and instructional materials, field trips and staff trips to conferences.

Andrews said the items--totaling about $314,000--were cut from an earlier version of the budget in order to balance it before presenting it to the board.

“Everything was reinstated,” said Supt. David Andrews. “We knew that once the (state) budget was finalized in Sacramento that we would generate enough money to put those things back in the budget. We’re very thin. We’re right on the line but we were able to put everything back in.”

Final adoption of the budget for the 1991-92 year is scheduled for Sept. 9.
