JETT BLACK: How’s this for an intriguing match-up: Joan Jett’s new album, “Notorious,” leads off with “Backlash,” a new song Jett penned with Replacements’ leader Paul Westerberg. The album also features a host of songs Jett co-wrote with Desmond Child, including “Don’t Surrender,” “Ashes in the Wind” and “Lie to Me,” as well as a remake of “Wait for Me,” a Runaways song Jett wrote when she was 15 years old. . . . Kudos to Alligator Records for digging up some classic 1977 recordings by blues great Otis Rush, which had been released only in Europe. Now titled “Lost in the Blues,” the album features Rush working with his original producer, Sam Charters, covering such vintage blues material as “Little Red Rooster,” “Please Love Me” and “Hold That Train.” To update the album, Alligator hired Lucky Peterson, Rush’s favorite keyboard player, to add piano tracks on each song. . . . And our Corporate Synergy Sweep of the Week goes to the Walt Disney Co. The entertainment conglomerate’s TV division, Buena Vista Television, has produced a one-hour TV special on Queen, the aging rock stars signed--of course--to Disney’s Hollywood Records label. The special, which marks the band’s 20th anniversary, airs next Sunday at 7 p.m. on Disney-owned KCAL-TV Channel 9.
