COUNTYWIDE : Officer Hurt as Car Is Struck by Vehicle
An Oxnard police officer was slightly injured when his car was struck early Saturday morning by a car driven by a suspected drunk driver, police said.
Officer Edward Ludaescher was traveling north on C Street just south of 9th Street about 1:30 a.m. when his car was struck by a vehicle. The other motorist is suspected of running a red light at the intersection of C and 9th streets, a police report said.
Ludaescher was released from St. John’s Regional Medical Center after being treated for minor injuries to his knees and lower back, police said.
The other driver, Michael Cardona, was also taken to St. John’s, where he was treated and released. Cardona was ticketed on suspicion of felony drunk driving and released, police said.
