ANAHEIM : Groups Will Request Rehearing on Project

Share

Two groups opposed to the Mountain Park housing project in Gypsum Canyon are scheduled to request a rehearing on the development plan at Tuesday’s City Council meeting.

The county and an environmental group, Friends of the Tecate Cypress, which has expressed opposition to a proposed housing development in the canyon, will request the new hearing.

The plan, proposed by the Irvine Co., calls for nearly 8,000 homes in the 3,179-acre canyon, which also has been considered as a site for a county jail or landfill.

The council certified an environmental review of the area and the specific housing plan at its meeting July 23 after receiving nearly two hours of public input, most of which was from groups and individuals opposed to the plan.
