The PGA of America announced Wednesday that Riviera Country Club has been selected as the host course for the 1995 PGA Championship.

PGA Executive Director Jim Awtrey also announced that Inverness, in Toledo, Ohio, will be the site of the 1993 tournament.

Oak Tree, in Edmond, Okla., has been released from its commitment to stage the 1994 event. A replacement site will be announced in the next few weeks, Awtrey said.

Awtrey said Landmark Corp., the owner of Oak Tree, is “under extreme business pressure” and is being forced to divest itself of assets, including Oak Tree. Awtrey said PGA policies involving minority membership in clubs holding its championships “was not a factor.” Oak Tree was the host of the 1988 PGA Championship.

Riviera, site of the 1983 PGA Championship and the 1948 U.S. Open, is also expected to be considered for the 1998 U.S. Open.

Inverness served as the site of the 1986 PGA Championship and four U.S. Opens.
