Schembechler to Do Studio Work for ABC

Taking a cue from NBC, which hired Pat Riley and Bill Parcells as studio TV commentators, ABC named Bo Schembechler as one of the hosts of its college football scoreboard program Wednesday.

The former Michigan coach will continue as president of the Detroit Tigers and work 12 consecutive weekends for ABC, commencing Sept. 14.

ABC’s college football season begins with a national telecast, Miami vs. Arkansas, on Aug. 31, but because of other commitments, Schembechler won’t start until two weeks later. He will be paired with Roger Twibell. Mark Jones and newcomer Julie Moran will also work on the show, which will originate in New York.
