Doug Dascenzo of the Chicago Cubs wasn’t as forgiving on Thursday as he was Wednesday, when he learned that National League President Bill White would only fine, not suspend, Cincinnati’s Rob Dibble for throwing at Dascenzo’s legs.

Dascenzo’s first response was: “It’s not my decision to make. When there is a situation like that and officials make a ruling, you abide by those rules. Whatever Bill White says is OK with me.”

But on Thursday, after the Cubs’ 11-1 loss to the Phillies in Philadelphia, Dascenzo had this to say: “I don’t know what tape Mr. White looked at. It couldn’t have been the same one we saw.”

Dascenzo said the Cubs plan to send a letter to White recommending a suspension as well as a fine against Dibble.

Lenny Dykstra of the Philadelphia Phillies, appearing in court in Media, Pa., stood silently as a plea of not guilty was entered for him to a charge of drunk driving.

Dykstra also applied for a first-time offender program that ultimately could erase the arrest from his record. The case stems from his May 6 accident.
