Robber in Red Hits Savings and Loan
A redheaded robber dressed completely in red escaped Friday with an undisclosed amount of cash from a Hawthorne Savings & Loan branch, police said.
A police spokesman said the gunman entered the bank at 3502 Katella Ave. about 12:50 p.m., handed a note demanding money and fled after he got the cash.
The robber, who had red, collar-length hair, was last seen running east in an alley behind a nearby McDonald’s restaurant.
The man was wearing red-rimmed sunglasses, a red sweater and red pants. Police said witnesses described him as in his late 20s, about 6 feet, 3 inches tall, and slim.
