HUNTINGTON BEACH : Financial Experts Sought as Advisers
The city is seeking volunteers with financial expertise to apply for a newly created task force that will advise the City Council on budget issues.
The nine-member task force will review the city’s financial standing and recommend to council members what cuts might be made to bridge a deficit estimated at more than $3 million.
The committee also will be asked to propose new ways to increase city revenues and suggestions to make the city’s everyday operations more cost-effective.
The City Council made about $3 million in cuts in June before approving the current budget. City Administrator Michael T. Uberuaga has called for a combination of spending reductions and increased fees for city services.
The council is scheduled to appoint the budget task force members on Monday. Residents may obtain applications by calling city Public Information Officer William Reed at (714) 536-5514 or writing to Reed at City Hall.
