After holding their preseason training camp on the other side of the continent for two years, the Kings are coming home.

The only problem is, all of their big-name stars will probably remain on the other end of the continent.

The Kings have announced that, as anticipated, they are moving their training camp from Hull, Quebec, to Lake Arrowhead. They will spend eight days there beginning Sept. 6 before embarking on an eight-game exhibition tour.

But those eight days will conflict with the international Canada Cup tournament going on in several Eastern cities, both Canadian and American, through the middle of September. Those expected to compete are Wayne Gretzky, Luc Robitaille, Rob Blake and perhaps Marty McSorley for Canada, Tony Granato for the United States, Jari Kurri for Finland, and Tomas Sandstrom for Sweden.

King Coach Tom Webster will also be involved as an assistant for the Canadian squad.

There will still be about 70 players on hand to compete for spots on the 1991-92 King roster.

Training camp sessions will be closed to the public except for intrasquad games on Sept. 10 and Sept. 12 and a rookie game on Sept. 13.

The Kings’ exhibition schedule:

Sun., Sept. 15--Quebec Nordiques at Madison, Wis. Tues., Sept. 17--San Jose Sharks at Fresno. Thurs., Sept. 19--San Jose at the Forum. Sat., Sept. 21--Pittsburgh Penguins at the Forum. Wed., Sept. 25--Pittsburgh at Portland, Ore. Thurs., Sept. 26--Pittsburgh at Phoenix. Fri., Sept. 27--New York Rangers at Las Vegas. Sun., Sept. 29--Rangers at Charlotte, N.C.
