Covina : Trash Fees Go Up Again
For the second time since June, a local trash collector has raised its fees.
The 6,708 single-family households who use Covina Disposal Company will now pay $11.47 per month, up from $9.62. Twelve apartment owners who use the company will pay $11.47 for the first unit and $8.19 for each additional unit.
In June, the council approved a 3.9% increase to allow for inflation. But Covina Disposal Co. requested an additional 19% increase to compensate for an increase in landfill dumping fees. The higher fee will appear on customers’ August trash bills.
The City Council approved the increase on a 4-0 vote. Councilman Gary Coffey was absent.
