SANTA ANA : Coastline President Among Job Seekers

Share

The president of Coastline Community College in Fountain Valley is among the four finalists under consideration to succeed former Rancho Santiago Community College District Chancellor Robert D. Jensen.

Coastline President William M. Vega is being interviewed for the job by Rancho Santiago trustees this week along with Max Castillo, president of San Antonio College in San Antonio, Tex.; Vivian Blevins, president of Lee College in Baytown, Tex., and Brice Harris, vice chancellor of institutional services at Metropolitan Community Colleges in Kansas City, Mo.

The board is expected to announce the successor at its regular meeting Monday.

Jensen, who left the district in June to become chancellor of the Contra Costa Community College District in Northern California, was replaced by interim Chancellor Lincoln Hall. Hall will stay on the job until the new chancellor takes over. Hall was not a candidate for the permanent job.

The original field of applicants had been narrowed to eight by a 10-member committee of students, faculty members and administrators. Trustees then interviewed the field of eight and selected four finalists.

About 40,000 students are enrolled in the Rancho Santiago College district, which has campuses in Santa Ana, Orange and Garden Grove.
