Officers arrested six juveniles, the youngest a 10-year-old, early Tuesday morning after they led the officers on a 20-minute chase through two cities in a stolen car, police said.

Police spotted a Buick Regal moving with its lights off at the intersection of Newport Boulevard and Fairview Road about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Police Lt. Dennis Cost said.

“The driver looked over at the officer and drove off at a high speed,” at one point accelerating to over 80 m.p.h., Cost said.

Costa Mesa police, joined by Irvine police and Orange County sheriff’s deputies, headed the car off at Trabuco Road and Fairbanks in Irvine, Cost said.

Six boys, whose ages range from 10 to 15, were arrested, and police later learned that the car had been stolen from Los Angeles less than an hour before, Cost said.
