La Verne : Dorm Chosen as Landmark

Share

The City Council approved a resolution Monday designating the first men’s dormitory at the University of La Verne as a cultural landmark.

The council voted 3 to 0 in favor of the designation, with members Patrick J. Gatti and Robert F. Rodriguez abstaining because of a conflict of interest. Both have business dealings with the university. The signed resolution was presented to University President Stephen Morgan immediately after the proposal was approved.

The designation allows the school to refurbish the dormitory, called Woody Hall, under the California Historical Building Code, which is more lenient than the standard Uniform Building Code.
