‘Diary of Anne Frank’ to Screen at Academy

George Stevens’ “The Diary of Anne Frank” (1959) will screen Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, 8949 Wilshire Blvd.

Ronald Haver, film historian and Los Angeles County Museum of Art film programs director, will discuss and introduce the 1959 film version of the play based on the diary of the young Jewish girl who hid with her family in an Amsterdam attic during World War II. The program is the academy’s eighth George Stevens Lecture, established in 1980 in honor of the Oscar-winning director and past academy president.
