Pebble Beach Co. Loses Court Round: A Superior Court judge in San Francisco said he will allow the California Coastal Commission to hear a Monterey resident’s challenge to Pebble Beach Co.’s plan to sell memberships in a new private club. Lawyers for Pebble Beach had sought to prohibit the commission from getting involved in the matter, contending that it has no jurisdiction. The membership plan was earlier approved by the Monterey County Board of Supervisors. The commission plans to hear the matter next month. Separately, James Boccardo, a lawyer who lives on posh 17 Mile Drive, followed through on his threat to sue Pebble Beach over the plan.
