Three men who claimed they were police officers forced their way into a home and robbed two people at gunpoint, police said.

About 11 p.m. Thursday, three men knocked on the door of a house in the 4000 block of Idaho Street and demanded to be let in, saying they were police officers, San Diego Police Lt. Jerry Moody said. Moody said he did not know if the assailants had displayed any kind of badge or other identification.

When the people in the house refused to let them in, the men kicked the door open and entered, Moody said.

Stephen Upson and Alfred Patchin, both in their 20s, were robbed at gunpoint, Moody said. Police had not yet identified what was taken or which of the victims lived at the house.

No one was hurt, but one shot was fired from a handgun into the wall, Moody said.
