CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SAN DIEGO : Man Indicted in Court Bombing
An Escondido man was indicted by a federal grand jury Friday on charges that he bombed the downtown U.S. district courthouse in September, 1990. David Kevin Cox, 36, was charged with five counts related to the blast, which damaged the exterior front of the building but injured no one. Cox, who was sentenced to four years in prison Monday on unrelated convictions, was charged with using explosives to damage U.S. property, unlawful manufacture of a destructive device and unlawful possession of an unregistered firearm, according to Assistant U.S. Atty. Larry Burns. He faces fines of up to $250,000 for each count and up to 50 years in prison if convicted.
