Top-seeded John Lloyd beat Marty Riessen, 6-3, 6-3, and Sandy Meyer upset third-seeded Vijay Amritraj, 7-5, 6-4, in the quarterfinals of the Grand Champions grass-court tournament at Newport Casino in Newport, R.I.
Also advancing was second-seeded Hank Pfister, who beat Sherwood Stewart, 6-2, 6-3, and fourth-seeded Jaime Fillol, who beat Brian Teacher, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
