OAK PARK : Panel Delays Vote on Jordan Ranch

The Oak Park Municipal Advisory Council has delayed making a recommendation to the Ventura County Board of Supervisors on the proposed Jordan Ranch development until officials can meet with the developer.

The council, an advisory board to the supervisors, postponed making a recommendation after a four-hour public hearing on the proposed housing development and golf course at Bob Hope’s Jordan Ranch. The development would be connected to the adjacent Oak Park by one of two access roads.

More than 150 people attended Tuesday’s hearing at Oak Hills Elementary School, with 31 people speaking against the project and 22 speaking in favor.

After the public testimony, Councilman Ron Stark suggested that the panel recommend rejection of the development as proposed. However, most of the five members on the council said they preferred to wait until they could meet with the developer to try and iron out their concerns about the project’s potential effect on traffic and schools.

The project is expected to go before the supervisors by the end of the year.
