A 38-year-old El Cajon man died when the vehicle in which he was riding rolled down a 150-foot embankment in Pine Valley, authorities said Friday.

William Sargent was dead at the scene at 8:08 p.m. Thursday, said John Armendariz, an investigator for the county medical examiner’s office.

About 6:15 p.m. the vehicle slipped off a dirt trail while going around a large boulder near Pine Creek Road, about 5 miles north of Old Highway 80, California Highway Patrol Officer Gary Brown said.
