New Branch: Bank of Newport has completed construction of its Costa Mesa branch on Harbor Boulevard near Baker, which it is using to woo local business customers from a nearby Wells Fargo Bank branch.
The Wells Fargo branch is the former headquarters of Citizens Bank of Costa Mesa, which the San Francisco banking giant bought Jan. 1. Wells Fargo had laid off most of the Citizens employees; many were hired by Bank of Newport to try to capture former Citizens customers.
Bank of Newport also opened a new branch in Laguna Niguel.
