OUTLOOK

After back-to-back losing seasons, McWhinney is expecting things to turn around this year. There is some reason for optimism. First, the Knights have more depth than they have had in recent years, which means fewer two-way starters. “Last season, we were ahead in the second half of every league game and lost all but one,” McWhinney said. “We got fatigued and gave up too many points.” The secondary is strong, with Higby and Kuchera. The Knights also have two quality linebackers in Busalacci and Rhodes. On offense, much of the burden will fall on Chaix, who started nine games as a sophomore and threw for more than 700 yards. The running game lacks experience. Lark and Ethan Taub are talented, but untested. Lark is a solid tackle-to-tackle runner and Taub has good speed to get outside.
